เนื่องในโอกาสพระราชพิธีมหามงคลเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงเจริญพระชนมพรรษา 72 พรรษา 28 กรกฎาคม 2567 สำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม มูลนิธิรอยัลแบงค์คอกซิมโฟนีออร์เคสตร้า ในพระอุปถัมภ์สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าสิริวัณณวรี นารีรัตนราชกัญญา กำหนดจัดการแสดงอุปรากรเรื่อง “มาดามบัตเตอร์ฟลาย” (Madama Butterfly) ในวันอังคารที่ 23 และวันพุธที่ 24 กรกฎาคม 2567 ณ หอประชุมใหญ่ ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมแห่งประเทศไทย
สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าสิริวัณณวรี นารีรัตนราชกัญญา องค์อุปถัมภ์มูลนิธิฯ มีพระดำริให้มูลนิธิฯ จัดการแสดงอุปรากร “มาดามบัตเตอร์ฟลาย” เป็นบทประพันธ์ดนตรีของ จาโคโม ปุชชินี (Giacomo Puccini) ชาวอิตาเลียน บทคำร้องเป็นภาษาอิตาเลียน โดย ลุยจิ อิลลิกา (Luigi Illica) และจูเซปเป้ จาโกซา (Giuseppe Giacosa) เป็นอุปรากรที่แสดงถึงความรักระหว่างสาวเกอิชาชาวญี่ปุ่นกับทหารเรือหนุ่มชาวอเมริกัน ที่ยึดมั่นในความรัก โดยการสละชีวิตเพื่อรักษาเกียรติและศักดิ์ศรีของตน อุปรากรเรื่องนี้ได้ถูกนำออกแสดงครั้งแรกที่โรงอุปรากรสกาลา ในกรุงมิลาน ประเทศอิตาลี ในปี ค.ศ.1904 (พ.ศ. 2447) เป็นโอเปร่าเรื่องหนึ่งที่ได้รับความนิยมนำออกแสดงมากที่สุด 10 อันดับแรกของโลก
การแสดงครั้งนี้สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าสิริวัณณวรีฯ ทรงรับเป็นผู้อำนวยการแสดง (Executive Producer) ทรงคัดเลือกคณะนักแสดงจาก Opera Production กรุงเวียนนา และเปิดคัดเลือกนักแสดงไทยในบทนักแสดงสมทบ และนักร้องประสานเสียง ที่สำคัญการแสดงครั้งนี้ ชุดของนักแสดงออกแบบใหม่ทั้งหมด โดยแบรนด์ SIRIVANNAVARI นำโดยองค์ครีเอทีฟไดเรคเตอร์ ทรงออกแบบเสื้อผ้าจำนวน 14 ชุด ด้วยพระองค์เอง สำหรับ 9 ตัวละครหลักทั้งชายหญิง คือ โจโจ้ซัง (Cio Cio San) นางเอก, พิงเคอร์ตัน (Pinkerton) พระเอก, ซูซูกิ (Suzuki) พี่เลี้ยง, ยามาโดริ (Yamadori) เจ้าชาย, เคท พิงเคอร์ตัน (Kate Pinkerton) ภรรยาใหม่, บอนโซ (Bonzo) พระญี่ปุ่น, โกโร (Goro) พ่อสื่อ, ชาร์พเลส (Sharpless) เพื่อนพระเอก และคอมมิสซาริโอ (Commissario) ขุนนางญี่ปุ่น และอีก 40 ชุด โดยทีมงานของแบรนด์ SIRIVANNVARI ภายใต้แนวคิดทรงกำหนดของพระองค์ท่าน นอกจากนี้ ยังทรงมีส่วนร่วมในการออกแบบฉากเวที ร่วมกับทีมงานจากเวียนนาอีกด้วย

Pinkerton, Alissandra Volpe (Mezzo-Soprano) รับบทเป็น Suzuki, Massimo Cavalletti (Baritone) รับบทเป็น Sharpless และ Orlando Polidoro (Tenor) ร่วมด้วย 3 นักร้องโอเปร่าชาวไทยที่มีชื่อเสียงในวงการ บรรเลงโดย Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra อำนวยเพลงโดย Valentin Egel ผู้อำนวยเพลงชาวเยอรมัน
