“ชลทิตย์” หวังเรียกฟอร์มคืนลงสู้ศึก แบล็คเมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ

ชลทิตย์ ชื่นบุญงาม นักกอล์ฟหนุ่มไทยสร้างผลงานได้น่าประทับใจที่สนามแบล็คเมาน์เทน กอล์ฟ คลับ หัวหิน เมื่อปีที่แล้วด้วยการรั้งรองแชมป์รายการอินเตอร์ชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ ไทยแลนด์ หลังพ่ายต่อ เวด ออร์มสบี้ จอมเก๋าจากออสเตรเลียอย่างเฉียดฉิวในการดวลเพลย์ออฟหลุมแรก กลับมาปีนี้เจ้าตัวพร้อมลงสู้ศึก แบล็คเมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ ที่จะเปิดฉากดวลรอบแรกในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 17 ตุลาคมนี้ (ภาพ: Asian Tour)

เอเชียนทัวร์จัดศึกอินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ สองรายการติดต่อกันที่ประเทศไทย ชิงเงินรางวัลรวมรายการละ 2 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ หรือประมาณ 66 ล้านบาท เริ่มจากรายการ แบล็ค เมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ แข่งขันระหว่างวันที่ 17-20 ตุลาคมนี้ ที่สนามแบล็คเมาน์เท่น กอล์ฟ คลับ หัวหิน จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ต่อด้วยรายการ อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ ไทยแลนด์ ชิงชัยที่สนามไทยคันทรีคลับ จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา ระหว่างวันที่ 24-27 ตุลาคม ซึ่งทั้งสองทัวร์นาเมนท์เป็นรายการ 5 และ 6 ในสิบรายการของอินเตอร์เนชั่นเนล ซีรีส์ ปีนี้

สำหรับศึกแบล็ค เมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ สัปดาห์นี้ ชลทิตย์ ต้องประชันฝีมือกับผู้เล่นระดับแชมป์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ และเหล่าโปรแถวหน้าของเอเชียอย่าง จอห์น แคทลิน จากสหรัฐฯ เจ้าของแชมป์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ มาเก๊า นำทัพลงชิงชัยในฐานะผู้นำอินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ แรงกิ้ง คนปัจจุบัน รวมถึง เบน แคมพ์เบลล์ แชมป์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ โมร็อกโก และปีเตอร์ ยูไลน์ โปรกอล์ฟชาวอเมริกัน ผู้เล่นจากทีม RangeGoats GC ในลิฟ กอล์ฟลีก ดีกรีแชมป์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ อิงแลนด์ เมื่อเดือนสิงหาคม

ทั้งนี้ชลทิตย์ถูกจัดให้เป็นหนึ่งในนักกอล์ฟที่ทำผลงานได้อย่างโดดเด่นในเอเชียน ดีเวลล็อปเมนท์ ทัวร์ ฤดูกาล 2022 จากการคว้าแชมป์รายการ กูนุง เกลิส อินวิเตชั่นแนล รวมถึงการรั้งอันดับสอง 3 รายการ และอันดับสามอีก 2 รายการ แม้ปัจจุบันจะไม่ติดในท็อป 100 ของอินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ แรงกิ้ง แต่เจ้าตัวหวังเรียกฟอร์มคืนกลับมาลงเล่นที่สนามแบล็คเมาน์เทน กอล์ฟ คลับ อีกครั้งในสัปดาห์นี้ รวมถึงรายการอินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ ไทยแลนด์ ที่สนามไทยคันทรี คลับ ในสัปดาห์หน้า

ขณะที่ผลงานของชลทิตย์ในเอเชียน ทัวร์ ฤดูกาลนี้ มีโอกาสเข้าใกล้แชมป์อีกครั้งหลังพ่ายเพลย์ออฟให้กับ คิม ฮุงเท็ก โปรกอล์ฟเจ้าถิ่นในรายการจีเอส คาลเท็กซ์ แมคยอง โอเพ่น เมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคม เจ้าตัวพูดถึงเกมในวันนั้นว่า “ผมแพ้เพลย์ออฟในรายการ จีเอส คาลเท็กซ์ แมคยอง โอเพ่น ตอนนั้นคิดแค่ว่าต้องเล่นให้ดีที่สุด ไม่สนใจผลที่จะเกิด ลึกๆ ก็อยากชนะ แต่ไม่อยากไปคิดเยอะ เพราะไม่อยากกดดันตัวเอง และยอมรับในผลที่จะเกิดขึ้น”

โปรกอล์ฟจากจังหวัดนครปฐมเผยถึงความพร้อมในการกลับมาลงเล่นที่สนามแบล็คเมาน์เทนฯ ที่เคยพ่ายเพลย์ออฟเมื่อปีก่อนว่า “ปีที่แล้วสนามค่อนข้างเหมาะกับเกมของผม เพราะแฟร์เวย์ค่อนข้างแข็ง กรีนค่อนข้างไว ส่วนฟอร์มการเล่นช่วง 2-3 สัปดาห์หลังมานี้ ผมเล่นได้ดีขึ้น แต่ก็ยังมีพัตต์ไม่ดี ขอตั้งเป้าอยากจะผ่านตัดตัวให้ได้ก่อน แล้วค่อยไปดูตำแหน่งในสองวันสุดท้ายว่าเป็นอย่างไร”

ทั้งนี้กอล์ฟรายการแบล็ค เมาน์เท่น แชมเปี้ยนชิพ ที่สนามแบล็คเมาน์เท่น กอล์ฟ คลับ หัวหิน และ อินเตอร์เนชั่นเนล ซีรีส์ ไทยแลนด์ ที่สนาม ไทย คันทรี คลับ จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา เป็นส่วนหนึ่งใน 6  ทัวร์นาเมนท์ที่ชิงชัยใน 8 สัปดาห์เพื่อชี้ชะตาแชมป์อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ ที่จัดชิงชัย 10 สนามต่อปีในเวทีเอเชียนทัวร์

Chalathit Hopes to Regain Form to Compete in the Black Mountain Championship in Hua Hin.

The Asian Tour is hosting two consecutive International Series tournaments in Thailand, each with a total prize money of 2 million US dollars or approximately 66 million baht. The first is the Black Mountain Championship, which will be held from October 17-20 at Black Mountain Golf Club, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The second is the International Series Thailand, which will be held at Thai Country Club, Chachoengsao Province from October 24-27. These two tournaments are the fifth and sixth of the ten International Series tournaments this year.

In this week’s Black Mountain Championship, Chonlatit will be competing against International Series champions and top Asian pros, including John Catlin from the United States, the current International Series Macau champion, leading the International Series rankings, as well as Ben Campbell, the Morocco International Series champion, and Peter Euline, an American golfer from the RangeGoats GC team in the LIV Golf League, who won the International Series England in August.

Chonlatit has been ranked as one of the standout performers on the 2022 Asian Development Tour, winning the Gunung Gelis Invitational, as well as three second-place finishes and two third-place finishes. Although he is currently not in the top 100 of the International Series rankings, he is hoping to rediscover his form at Black Mountain Golf Club this week, as well as the International Series Thailand at Thai Country Club next week.

While Chonlatit’s performance on the Asian Tour this season has a chance to get close to the championship again after losing a playoff to local golfer Kim Hung-taek in the GS Caltex Majong Open in May, he talked about the game that day, “I lost a playoff in the GS Caltex Majong Open. At that time, I just thought about playing my best and not caring about the result. Deep down, I wanted to win, but I didn’t want to think too much because I didn’t want to put pressure on myself and I accepted the result.”

The golf pro from Nakhon Pathom province revealed his readiness to return to play at Black Mountain, where he lost in the playoff last year, saying, “Last year, the course was quite suitable for my game because the fairways were quite hard and the greens were quite fast. As for my form in the last 2-3 weeks, I have played better, but I still have some bad putting. I want to set a goal to make the cut first, then see what the position is in the last two days.”

The Black Mountain Championship at Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin and the International Series Thailand at Thai Country Club in Chachoengsao are part of six tournaments that are contested over eight weeks to determine the champion of the International Series, which is contested at 10 courses per year on the Asian Tour.
