ต้นคริสต์มาสสูง 18 ฟุต กว้างกว่า 8 ฟุตต้นนี้ ตั้งอยู่บนฐานไม้ลายทาง (Signature Stripe) ลวดลายอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของแบรนด์ ถูกจัดวางอย่างโดดเด่นบริเวณโถงกลาง พร้อมตกแต่งในคอนเซ็ปต์ “Peek Behind the Curtains” ที่ทางเซอร์ พอล สมิธ ต้องการเฉลิมฉลองและแสดงความเคารพต่อเหล่าศิลปินและทีมงานเบื้องหลัง โดยการออกแบบต้นคริสต์มาสต์ครั้งนี้เต็มไปด้วยรายละเอียดมากมายที่สะท้อนถึงบรรยากาศอันมีชีวิตชีวาของ Royal Opera House ผ่านองค์ประกอบต่างๆ อย่าง เชือก พู่ ผ้าม่านกำมะหยี่สีเขียว รวมถึงพร็อพจากการแสดงเรื่องต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น พัด ทรัมเป็ต เชิงเทียน รวมถึงเครื่องดนตรีที่ได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากอุปกรณ์ประกอบฉากต่างๆ พร้อมด้วยเครื่องประดับวินเทจสุดคลาสสิกและลูกบอลที่มีลวดลาย Signature Stripe ของทางแบรนด์

การตกแต่งยังเชื่อมไปถึงโซน Davies Terrace ซึ่งเต็มไปด้วยต้นคริสต์มาสที่ “โผล่ออกมาจากลังไม้” โดยได้แรงบันดาลใจจากลังพร็อพที่ใช้ในงานโปรดักชันของ Royal Opera House ซึ่งบุภายในด้วยลาย Signature Stripe อันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของแบรนด์ พร้อมข้อความอวยพรที่เขียนด้วยลายมือของเซอร์ พอล สมิธ เพื่อส่งต่อความสุขและความอบอุ่นในช่วงเทศกาลนี้
ความร่วมมือสุดพิเศษนี้นับเป็นครั้งแรกระหว่างสองไอคอนิกแห่งวงการออกแบบและศิลปะของอังกฤษ ที่มีจุดร่วมเดียวกันในเรื่อง “การแสดงและการเล่าเรื่อง” ภายใต้แนวคิด “แรงบันดาลใจสามารถพบได้ในทุกที่” สะท้อนอัตลักษณ์ที่หยั่งลึกในประเพณีแบบอังกฤษ และสร้างมาตรฐานใหม่ให้กับวงการแฟชั่นและศิลปะการแสดง

Paul Smith and Royal Opera House Unwrap Their Festive Partnership
Paul Smith unveils its festive takeover of the Royal Opera House, proudly unwrapping the 2025 Royal Opera House Christmas Tree designed by Sir Paul Smith, situated in the iconic Paul Hamlyn Hall.
Measuring 18ft in height and 8ft in width, the traditional Christmas tree takes the centre stage. Its
concept – best described as a ‘peek behind the curtains’ – is Sir Paul’s way to celebrate and pay
homage to the artistry behind the scenes as well as onstage. Joyful references to the inner workings of the Royal Opera House are present throughout the design by featuring rope, tassels, green velvet curtains as well as props from famous productions. Ballet and opera lovers can keep an eye out for details including fans, flutes, candelabras, as well as other musical instruments, buckets, baskets and columns, all inspired by props featured across the Royal Ballet and Opera repertoire. Combined with eclectic vintage ornaments and Signature Stripe baubles, the tree sits on a 2ft Signature Stripe barrel.
In true Paul Smith style, spectators are encouraged to ‘look and see’ as the joy of discovery often hides in finer details, with miniature figures of skiers and ice skaters waiting to be found. The design also offers a playful take on another festive performative tradition – the act of wrapping and unwrapping – with unexpected objects wrapped in Paul Smith’s seasonal stationery, featuring a motif developed specifically for the 2025 holiday season.
The takeover continues to the Davies Terrace, where Christmas trees burst out of crates, inspired by prop crates used by the Royal Opera House productions, now lined with Paul Smith’s iconic Signature Stripe. Handwritten messages from Sir Paul also adorn the terrace with the hope of filling onlookers with festive joy.
The first-of-its-kind collaboration has brought together two icons of British design and the arts, united by a shared commitment to performance and storytelling. Guided by Sir Paul’s enduring belief that ‘you can find inspiration in everything’, the partnership reflects a global outlook rooted in British tradition and sets a new benchmark for creative engagement between fashion and performance.
Paul Smith has been present in Covent Garden since 1979, when Sir Paul opened his first London shop on Floral Street – just steps away from the Royal Opera House. Since then, the two have remained friendly neighbours, united by shared values and a mutual dedication to celebrating and supporting the arts, craftsmanship, and performance. This enduring connection continues, reflecting a deep appreciation for creativity and cultural heritage.
Visitors are now invited to experience the Paul Smith takeover and enjoy the Christmas tree alongside a host of seasonal activities at the Royal Opera House, running daily from noon, until January 5th, 2026.
